Ware Manufacturing Site:

Medicines at Ware are presented as either Respiratory devices or in Oral Solid Dose form. The site holds a unique position in our network as the only site responsible for launching the company’s pipeline of new medicines in these dose forms, many of which are life saving medicines. A series of investments in new state-of-the-art equipment are being made that will support the delivery of a record number of new products. This must be achieved whilst consistently delivering outstanding quality, service and value to our patients.

Due to the sustained long term expansion of the Ware site and the introduction of new products we are looking to expand our Statistics team at the Ware site. The Ware site will provide a Statistician with a challenging yet rewarding work environment. Everyone at the Ware site and throughout GSK is committed to doing the best job possible for the benefit of patients that GSK is helping to do more, feel better and live longer. With over 1200 people on site across disciplines such as Engineering, Technical Operations, Production and R&D the opportunities to learn from others professionals and to broaden experience will be boundless for the new incoming Statistician.

Ideally we are looking for individuals that could fit the following criteria,

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of MSc. in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analysis or a degree with a high statistical content.
  • Technical Report Writing
  • Capable of working in multi disciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate analysis outcome to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • The application of appropriate statistical methods and techniques to an ever dynamic environment.
  • Competent in multivariate and univariate analysis.
  • Good understanding of DoE application to optimise processes and ensure robustness and the importance of statistical power when designing experiments.
  • Knowledge of SAS for data manipulation and statistical modelling.
  • Understanding of mixed models and their application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of pharmaceutical production processes.
  • Project Management Skills
  • Will be experienced across a range of data projects and data types.
  • Experience of applying statistics in industry.
  • Understanding of statistical process control and sampling methodologies.

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities:

The key purpose of this role is to apply Statistical methodology to contribute to improved robustness of manufacturing processes and to support product transfer from research and development to global manufacturing scale. The role also involves the training of technical personal to enhance statistics capability and understanding at the Ware site. The successful candidates will contribute to the introduction, and implementation of Statistics thinking and methodology in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide a service in statistics to customers at all levels of the Ware GMS site.
  • Statisticians will, through the best use of statistical methods, statistical systems, people and procedures meet business objectives, customer needs, service, quality, cost, safety and environmental standards.
  • The Statistician role within the Technical Data Team focuses on delivery of analyses.
  • The role is strongly aligned to both of the two site supply chains – Respiratory (RSC) and Oral Solid Dose (OSD).

Additional Responsibilities,

  • Provide statistical support, through the best use of statistical methods, statistical systems, people and procedures to meet business objectives, customer needs, service, quality, cost, safety and environmental standards. This will involve leading the statistical elements of a number of key projects.
  • To focus on delivery of analyses and influencing and leading project teams for both New Product Introduction & Global Supply.
  • To provide technical leadership for statistical applications to support NCE Development Process & Design for Manufacture (DFM) within the supply chains working in conjunction with Process Understanding & Control & Development Teams.
  • To develop & maintain the technical interface for Statistics with above site technical groups, Centres of Excellence, Shared Service and Pharmaceutical Development (PD).
  • Training & coaching of Statistics and Method Application
  • Manage a team of statisticians, as required, to provide a service in statistics to customers at all levels of the Ware GMS site.
  • Development of appropriate statistical methodology & application to meet the business requirements.
