The Basketball Operations Analytics Trainee will analyze, maintain, and present basketball data, utilizing various programming and analytics software tools. This position will work with the Director, Basketball Analytics to provide statistical and quantitative solutions for use by the Basketball Operations group.

• Design and perform rigorous statistical analysis in support of Basketball Operations decision making; analysis may relate to league structure, rule changes, game play and any other questions Basketball Operations is faced with.
• Produce stats-based reporting for league office staff.
• Check data, support data integration into our database, and provide ideas to improve our database.
• Perform exploratory analysis of new data sources to assess data quality and applicability in
Basketball Operations decision making.
• Stay abreast of latest developments and advancements in sports analytics through research.

• Experience with varied programming languages, particularly SQL, is preferred.
• Experience working with large datasets and commonly used statistical packages, data visualization and basketball analytics is preferred.
• A passion for sports and a strong interest in the NBA and its teams.
• Excellent attention to detail in checking and working with data.
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely.
• Experience with quantitative analysis.
• Experience writing code (R, VBA, SQL, Python, etc.).

• BA in Statistics, Applied Math, Math, Computer Science or related discipline preferred.
