The Role (Role Description) – We have two new Data Scientist roles with the department which will be required to manage and analyse large multiple trial data sets for the Department of Primary Industries. This will involve providing advice and establishing protocols for collection, storage, access, analysis and reanalysis of these data sets.
The positions will play a key role in promoting and developing key relationships between researchers and biometricians therefore you will need to have excellent communication skills. Your experience in operating “R”, Genstat and ASReml programs and your in depth knowledge of protocols for metadata, spatial and modelled data will be highly valued.
The role reports to the Manager Science Excellence and will need to address numerous challenges including assessing the departments priorities for statistical analysis and resolving conflicting project demands and ensuring that a strong partnership between researchers, data scientist and biometricians is established and fostered. Ideally you will have experience in reanalysing data ensuring compatibility using proven methods.
If you are able to communicate key research messages at appropriate forums and explore a range of possible and creative alternatives with high integrity based datasets which supports Department research programs then you will succeed in this position.
