The successful candidate will deliver and manage a bespoke data management service including statistical analysis and intelligence systems for our high performance athletes, coaches and Institute network staff. You will have experience in providing applied data analytics and data management support and you will be educated to post grad level in Statistical Analysis.

You must have a flexible approach to work, and a positive attitude to support a team of high performance experts working with elite Scottish Athletes.

Salary Circa £40,804 pa

JOB PURPOSE

Provide comparative understanding of sports’ performance status and performance progression by delivering benchmarking processes and data analytics solutions. This work will include longitudinal impact assessments delivered by the statistical analysis of athlete performance following coaching and service provision interventions. The post includes responsibility for the effective day to day operational functioning and application of the Institute’s data management solution (Smartabase), analytics software and related continual professional development forums.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage applications of the Institute’s data management and intelligence systems to help benchmark sports performance status
  • Deliver bespoke statistical analysis processes leading to the on-going interpretation and translation of high performance sport data
  • Modelling current performance and creating predictive solutions
  • Simplifying data mining outputs from complex numerical values into practical and applied coaching and support information
  • Report critical performance trends and where appropriate develop models of sports performance
  • Provide data analytics processes to measure performance impact effects due to coaching and service provision interventions.
  • Deliver working applications of the Institute’s Data Management systems and Data Analytics processes so that we can clearly measure and evaluate the on-going performance impact of our work
  • Provide multivariate statistical analysis and data modelling support to prioritised sports that have longitudinal databases and high performance sport questions that require this level of analysis
  • Help prioritised sports and colleagues organise data into database formats that best enable data analysis, interpretation and the monitoring of interventions
  • Provideprioritised Data Management guidance, technical solutions and continual professional development forums that help the Institute andprioritised sports answer key questions e.g.,
    • How does our performance compare to our competitors?
    • Are our interventions, coaching programmes and support programmes impacting upon performance?
  • Focus upon delivering effective data driven decision making processes across all levels of the Institute network
  • With particular focus on the quality, structure and measurement of high performance sport impact through appropriate data analysis, presentation, interpretation and legacy recording methods.
  • Create and implement appropriate data management, processing, interpretation and application roadmaps.

MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education Required:

  • Post Graduate qualification in Statistical Analysis

Desired:

  • High performance sport accreditation (or equivalent)

Specific Experience (Required):

  • Ability to apply and run advanced statistical analysis packages within the high performance sport environment e.g., SAS/SPSS
  • Strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret and communicate complex information into practical high performance sport guidance
  • Experience in using Cloud Analytics Platforms and in analytics programming e.g., R programming language
  • Excellent communication skills e.g., to help deliver the output from statistical analysis via clear and informative data management/presentation methods
  • Project Management, data management and line management experience
  • Knowledge of the high performance sport sector and the know how to integrate data analytics service provision and expert solutions within the coaching process
  • Maintain and longitudinally manage sport database and video database information
